Vision Forum Website, Poll, and Facebook Page Targeted for Attack As Atheist Groups and Pro-Homosexual Community Rally in Opposition to VF Defense of Marriage

Vision Forum Website Targeted for Attack As Atheist Groups and Pro-Homosexual Community Rally in Opposition to VF Defense of Marriage

Today, in the early hours of May 17, Vision Forum began to receive the first in an ongoing and unprecedented attack to neutralize our website. The attack coincided with what appears to be a concerted and ongoing effort from within the atheist and homosexual community to manipulate an online poll to VF readers, and transform the VF Facebook page into a forum for homosexuals and opponents of Christianity to mock Christianity. The attack successfully curtailed our ability to make some products available to customers today, successfully undermined the integrity of an online poll, and was successful in placing profanities, blasphemies, and offensive content on our Facebook page.

Here is the story as we presently understand it:

Vision Forum is a ministry dedicated to the defense of the Christian family. We believe that God alone has the right to define marriage, and it is intended to be between a man and a woman. Over the course of the last week, Vision Forum has been posting articles expressing our opposition to President Obama’s declaration in favor of same-sex marriage. We have pointed out the anti-Christian and unbiblical nature of the President’s support of homosexual marriage. We have pointed out that his declaration promotes an agenda which is inconsistent with the historic statutory and common law foundations of Western law which are rooted in Christianity. We have also pointed out that the President has unleashed a nationwide campaign of scoffing at Christianity and the biblical definition of marriage.

Yesterday, we launched a poll through Doug’s Blog which asked the question: Do you support President Obama’s declaration favoring same sex marriage?

As of midnight last night, there were just under 1,600 votes, approximately 90% of which expressed disapproval for the President’s support of homosexual “marriage.” By 7 o’clock in the morning, that number of votes had jumped to just under 25,000 voters, and the demographic had switched to close to 90% of Vision Forum readers voting in favor of the President’s declaration. We realized that something fishy was going on for there to be a 2000% increase in pro-sodomite voting during the early hours of the morning.

The D-DOS Attack on Our Website

But something else was also afoot.

Around 3:00 a.m. (CDT), Vision Forum began experiencing a Distributed Denial of Service (D-DOS) attack on the website, VisionForum.com. This type of attack uses large numbers of compromised computers, hundreds in this case, to send repeated requests to a website in an attempt to overload it. The result is that it can become very difficult, if not impossible, to use a website under such an attack.

If you were one of the hundreds of people who had problems loading the Vision Forum pages today, it is because of this D-DOS attack which coincided with the efforts of others to populate our Facebook page with inappropriate material, and to undermine the integrity of our poll.

What is Causing the Inflated Pro-Homosexual Results?

At the time of this writing, the poll shows more than 50,000 voters, more than 47,000 of which support same-sex marriage. The numbers are growing with almost exact frequency each minute, and the proportionality of the votes have remained a general constant, at least since we have been tracking it early this morning.

Is this a case of the “people speaking”? Hardly!

There are two explanations for the dramatic change in proportionality of the vote and massive increase in voters. First, the pro-sodomite community could have rallied more than 40,000 supporters to vote in a time period of the last ten hours or so. This would show the power of anti-Christian hate groups to create a viral response to Christians who take a public stand against redefining marriage to accommodate the homosexual agenda.

How Anti-Christian Groups Deliberately Manipulated the Data

The second primary explanation is that the poll was deliberately manipulated by an individual or individuals wanting to interfere with the poll. An online poll of this kind provided by the PollDaddy service used on Doug’s Blog could easily be skewed through use of a macro script or browser plug-in such as the iMacros add-on for Google Chrome.

So what happened?

The evidence indicates that internet trolls and activists have tampered with at least a portion of the polling process.

We have verified, for example, by mid-afternoon that at least 4,500 of the votes are duplicates coming from the same IP address. This is almost indisputable proof that “there is something fishy going on.” Another 17,000 votes are from outside the United States of America, which means either that Vision Forum is either experiencing an unprecedented amount of international traffic, or that individuals may be using anonymizing networks to make their IP addresses appear unique while actually “rigging” the poll in their favor. It does not appear to be a hack of PollDaddy’s servers, but instead someone employing an automated script to vote repeatedly.

Presently, a user is claiming responsibility for skewing the results using a macro script of this kind. As early as 1:00 a.m. the same morning, a link to my blog post with this polling question “Do you support the President’s stand on same-sex marriage?” was shared in the Atheism section of the social site Reddit, encouraging visitors to participate. The item received more than 500 responses including acknowledgements of participation, many which contained specific statements in opposition to the Christian definition of marriage.

It was on the Reddit Atheist forum that a user boasted of their use of a specialized computer script to dramatically inflate votes in our poll in favor of President Obama’s position and urged other readers of the Reddit forum to employ the same method to further skew the poll results. Several of these individuals identified themselves as homosexuals and posted glee-filled obscenities about their behavior within the context of their attempt to hijack our poll. Their boasting simply reveals what the common IP addresses point to — the manipulation of the poll by a few, thus rendering the results highly imbalanced.

Pro-Homosexual and Atheists Target the VF Facebook Page

But if bots and macro sabotage scripts were not enough, atheists, sodomites and pro-homosexuals from around the world targeted our Facebook page to populate it with hundreds of profanities, hateful dialogue, scoffing, blasphemy, and more. This prompted the posting of the following statement:

“This Facebook page has been targeted by the atheist and homosexual community, members of which have generated a spate of posts which violate the guidelines of this page. We remind our readers: We are a Christian company that takes seriously the Third Commandment. It is one thing to charitably post an alternative opinion, it is another to mock God, his Scriptures, or to take His name in vain. If you use this Facebook page for scoffing (Proverbs 22:10), for posting defiling communications, or if you in any way violate the Third Commandment in your posts, or encourage others to do the same, you will be deleted and banned.”

What Are We to Make of This Attack?

Last year, atheist groups targeted the Facebook page of Ken Ham, filling it with pornographic material and hateful and filthy language. Today Vision Forum was the object of attack (and still is). Tomorrow, it will be someone else.

While these plots to sabotage our poll and website, or to pollute our Facebook page with inappropriate dialogue can be a nuisance, they are not surprising. In fact, they are entirely predictable. They are a predictable tactic of radical groups known for bad behavior, groups made up of individuals who have little respect for Christianity or decency. What Vision Forum is presently experiencing is the predictable consequence of taking a stand against the radical pro-homosexual and atheist communities.

Of course, the battle on the Vision Forum website points to a much bigger and defining cultural battle that confronts us today: Will we embrace God’s program for marriage and the family and seek to personally model it in all its power and beauty, even as we fight for its sanctity — or will we cave to societal pressure and call “evil, good” as it relates to homosexual behavior and attempts for unlawful recognition of practicing homosexuals, in defiance of God’s standards given to us in the Bible? The choice is simple: God’s law or chaos.

May God Receive All the Glory

Since our inception, Vision Forum has embraced the Bible as the standard for all of life and has sought to encourage the restoration of the biblical family by reinforcing godly masculinity and femininity — calling on men to act as noble men and women to embrace the high calling of virtuous womanhood and biblical femininity. Part of this mission has been to extol the glories of godly marriage as first pictured in the Garden when God brought Eve to Adam as his perfect helpmeet. The institution of marriage was the capstone of Creation Week, as God declared that “it is not good that man should be alone” (Gen. 2:18); that Adam needed a wife to aid him in his dominion work. Eve was God’s gift to Adam, and through Adam’s union with her, they were to bring forth children — to “be fruitful and multiply” — even as they worked together as dominion stewards of God’s creation. It’s this grand model of God-ordained marriage that Vision Forum has sought to advance since our founding more than fourteen years ago.

The battle against biblical marriage is likely only to escalate. As the pressure increases, we as Christian must fight against compromise and uphold God’s standard concerning this foundational institution.

Doug Phillips

For years I was in the business of defending families as an attorney. Today, I believe that every family must take seriously their duty to seek assistance in protecting their little ones from the abuse that comes from an increasingly humanist government system of social workers that often do not respect the Christian household or parental rights. If you are a home educator, you need to be a member of Home School Legal Defense Association, but as a parent, you also need the unique protection that Heritage Defense can offer. You need to know that the government will not harass you for loving and legal discipline you administer to your children, for your nutritional philosophy, for properly using midwifery services, or any of a host of important parental rights issues for which families are under attack. Consider this — just one hour of attorney consultation would typically cost you more than an entire year’s membership with Heritage Defense. You can’ afford to not join! Let my good friend Don Hart and his excellent legal staff become your attorneys in defense of your family freedom. It is important! Take a good look at these poll results: Smell fishy to you?

Just before midnight last night there were under 1600 votes total on the Vision Forum poll below asking people if they support the president’s declaration supporting same sex-marriage.

The overwhelming majority of the votes (just under 90%) were in opposition to President Obama’s declaration in favor of same-sex marriage. But somewhere between midnight and 7:00 A.M. an unprecedented 21,500 plus people voted in favor of homosexual marriages, thus reversing the poll statistics to approximately 90% of Vision Forum poll participants favoring homosexual marriage, and 10% opposing. That means there was a 2000% increase in voting traffic—all most all pro-homosexual—between 1:00 AM and 7:00am.

Does this sound fishy to any of you?

The Mercy of God in the Life of a Preemie: 18 Years Later

My wife Kaye’s water broke while we were spending Christmas in Yosemite. She was rushed to a hospital in California’s Central Valley, 200 miles from our Sonoma home. Kaye had already lost two babies at birth and six from miscarriages, so I was pretty sure this one was a goner.

Since the baby was only five months along, the doctors first encouraged us to abort. Then, despite the fact that the baby was breach, they recommended a vaginal delivery — knowing that the baby most likely would not survive anything but a Cesarean. (Before the birth, we had attempted to transfer Kaye to a major medical facility closer to home. However, they had refused to intervene on the baby’s behalf in any way — no C-section, no life support, nothing.) We could see the baby’s heartbeat on the monitor, so we decided to go for the Cesarean.

When little Olivia first emerged, she was no larger than my hand and weighed no more than a pint of milk. Her spread fingers were no wider than my thumbnail. Her own fingernails were the size of grains of sand. Her eyelids were still fused shut. Yet Olivia was clearly a living baby, not a fetus. She stretched and kicked fiercely. Her translucent skin was blood-red. Every feature was perfectly formed. Although barely a pound, Olivia was indeed “fearfully and wonderfully made.”

For three months, Kaye sat at Olivia’s side by the incubator — cooing to her, caressing her, giving her that “will to live” which is at least as important as all the marvels of modern technology. (Our four kids and I commuted 400 miles each weekend to be with Mom.) Kaye was an oddity on the intensive care ward – - sometimes welcomed, sometimes resented. Many of the other babies had been virtually abandoned — visited only occasionally, if at all. The hospital staff was attentive and technologically competent, but was only gradually learning to appreciate the parents’ crucial role.

Many simple innovations could have improved these babies’ environment immensely: dimmed lights, soft music, screens to buffer their raucous surroundings, some form of caring attention to offset the jabbing and poking of medical procedures. As I would stroll down the hall after midnight, the eerie light of left-on televisions would flicker over each sleeping baby’s isolette. In a poignant way, Caribbean travelogues and chattering game shows were often these little ones’ only companions.

Kaye brought Olivia home to Sonoma five weeks earlier than her origi¬nal due date. In the first three months since birth, Olivia has increased her weight five-fold. She has no apparent abnormalities. She breathes without canned oxygen and sucks vora¬ciously on her doll-sized bottle — without force-feeding, regimented sched¬ules, or blinking alarms. Last Sunday, at a little church we visited up the North Coast, I sobbed deeply and wrenchingly during worship. We were fi¬nally, I realized, home free.

Just the other night, Olivia slept through for the first time — no putzing, no colic, no oxygen, no heart monitors. The old video of Philadelphia Story I had inserted in the VCR for my usual pre-dawn vigil sat unneeded. About 4:00 a.m. Olivia started burbling, so I got up and swabbed her nostrils with the syringe. She protested at first, but once clear, she sighed, smiled quietly, and drifted into her deepest sleep of the night.

Under Bill Clinton’s health care plan [and Obama’s], babies like Olivia would be denied life support. If the child doesn’t fit the guidelines, the “preemie” doctor would be prohibited from intervening to save her. Too premature, too uncertain, too costly — all part of health rationing, you know. Our country is in deep trouble when we let the government decide who lives and who dies.

God bless you and your wonderful work. It is on the front lines of education, entertainment, legislation, science, medicine, economics, evangelism, and family values that children like Olivia will be saved and this battle will be won.

Scoffer in Chief: Why the President’s Rejection of Marriage Has Opened a National Wave of Scoffing at the Bible

“Drive out the scoffer, and contention will go out, Even strife and dishonor will cease.” Proverbs 22:10

There is an important biblical principle about those who mock authority. It is this: When scoffers are allowed to spread their poison, contention spreads. When they are driven out, it stops.

Last week, President Barack Obama set aside his role as Chief Executive and became Scoffer in Chief. He became the first president in the history of the United States to make an executive statement communicating his moral and political support for changing the historical, common law, statutory and biblical definition of marriage to sanction the ability of two men or two women to marry. Despite the fact that he carefully omitted the word “Bible” from his discussion, he made it clear from his statement that his opinion was more important than God’s written declaration.

But far more was going on than a simple statement of opinion from the President. The carefully timed, highly strategic presidential declaration to the American people, launched just before Mother’s Day, was a cue to the media, to ultra-liberal pastors, and to activist political groups, that the restraints were lifted—restraints which were implicitly imposed on them by the stated unwillingness of their hero and defender to cross certain boundaries.

It was like a master unleashing his wild and ravenous dog and saying—-“sic ‘em!”

And the first wave of the mauling is aimed at the one book which continues to inspire awe and some degree of reverence even with unbelievers—The Holy Bible. The tactic—confusion, reinterpretation, mockery, misrepresentation.

Leading the assault is the largely pro-homosexual press corps which has aimed its poisoned pen at the Biblical definition of marriage by using its pulpit to generate a cacophony of scoffing at the Bible as the recognized standard bearer for the definition of marriage.

Here is the form of scoffing which is presented on the home pages of the news outlets like CNN this week:

  1. *Barack Obama should be supported because the Bible is pro-homosexual: This week CNN is featuring a new wave of experts—-People who do not hold to a belief in the doctrines of inspiration and infallibility, and thus reject the authority of Scripture, and who are actively involved in support for homosexuality, but who are given front page news stories and editorials in which they declare with great personal authority that their study of the text of Scripture reveals conclusively that nothing in the Bible opposes homosexuality—-this despite two thousand years of scholarship to the contrary.

  2. Even if the Bible does oppose homosexuality, the Bible should not be taken seriously because it is a book of discrimination. CNN’s John Blake writes: “Some people wonder if the black church will punish President Barack Obama for announcing support for same-sex marriage. Here’s another question: Why would the black church cite scripture to exclude gays when a similar approach to the Bible was used to enslave their ancestors…’The literal approach to scripture was used to enslave black people.’” The fact that this is an outrageous over-generalization based on a misrepresentation of the Scriptures is irrelevant to the press corps. Emboldened by the president’s declaration, CNN is now willing to openly mock and implicate those who believe in the inerrancy and infallibility of Scriptures.

Add to these arguments from the media a litany of video features including some anti-Obama pastors, but a host of pro-homosexual pastors many of whom who do not even believe in the fundamentals of orthodox Christianity, being presented as “Christian” experts on the Bible. The latter are given to the American people to persuade them that reasonable Christians can disagree as to whether two men should be able to marry.

But whether it is sugar-coated or presented in its traditionally venomous form, the public attack on the biblical definition of marriage always reduces to scoffing at God for setting the standards and scoffing at people for believing in those standards.

Once again we see that those who say that the faith of a President does not matter because he is not “pastor in chief” are really missing the mark. The President will either seek to honor the Lord, and say so, or he will inevitably scoff at the Lord and His law—making him Scoffer in Chief. And when the President of the United States boldly scoffs at the biblical definition of marriage, a nation of scoffers will rise up.

The answer to this problem is found in Proverbs 22:10.

On the Presidential Endorsement of Same-Sex Marriage

On the Presidential Endorsement of Same-Sex Marriage

For two decades the frog has been in the pot while the temperature has been slowly turned up. Yesterday, it was finally cooked and served to the American people in a sauce so thick as to cover the rancid flavor of the dish.

The process began with the Bush presidencies and their toleration for homosexuality. It was advanced in full by the Clinton Administration. It has now reached its logical zenith under Obama. So we should not be surprised by the official announcement that the President of the United States of America has finally declared to the world his opposition to the historical, common law and biblical meaning of marriage. President Obama may be remembered for many things, but few are as fundamental in its treason to his countrymen, to his oath of office and to the living God, then his decision to use the presidency to redefine a definition of marriage that was established on Day Six of Creation and has been the benchmark of civilization for 6,000 years.

Mark your calendars—May 9, 2012, the President of the United States of America finally crossed a line from which there is no return without repudiation and repentance. Terrorists are dangerous. The economy is a real and present danger. But there is simply nothing other then the holocaust of the unborn which imperils the safety of our country or places our people in jeopardy as does the leader of the Western world publicly raising his fist at the Heavens and declaring that the bedrock institution of society, ordained of God and meant to be protected by the state, is little more than a convention of convenience for the children of Sodom to transform the meaning of something which is precious to Jesus Christ and a living picture of His love for the Church, into a legally protected justification for perversion, and vehicle of hatred aimed directly at that love.

”…Shutters separate the guests’ rooms from their balconies, where Queen’s wreath and moon-vines create private bowers. In the courtyard below an orchestra plays two-steps and other popular tunes and electric bulbs are strung through the cacti and devil’s ivy like elfin lamps. Glass doors lead into the dining room, where the bill of fare is written in French, and there are private dining rooms as well. Alligators swim in the fountain and the hotel itself is located very close to The Alamo.” —Author Annie Fellows Johnston on the beautiful Menger Hotel

When you step foot into the historic Menger for the “Turn of the Century Ladies Tea…

Today you can walk through its courtyard where alligators once greeted guests, where Presidents came to watch the famous San Antonio Parade of Roses, and where famous writers, composers and baseball heroes like Babe Ruth strolled. Here, just yards from where the Alamo defenders drew a line in the sand, where Col. Teddy Roosevelt raised the Rough Riders, where president’s and Civil War generals including both Robert E. Lee and Ulysees S. Grant stood (on different occasions), where the Hollywood A-list of the 1920’s and 30’s vacationed, where dignitaries gathered, and where the Edwardians of the 1910’s enjoyed high tea, a thousand stories of life, love and the history of our nation was played out.

Now It is Your Turn to Be Part of History

Join Beall Phillips and a list of special guests at the historic Menger Hotel for a beautiful “turn of the century” ladies tea as part of our launch for the Reformation of Food the Family conference. Travel back with them in time to the 1900’s and beyond as they look back on great lessons from more than a century of family-based hospitality, and as they share words of hope to the Christian ladies of the 21st century. Join them for a special season of encouragement and blessing that you won’t forget.

On October 16, 1916, ladies of Texas gathered at the Menger to seek blessing on the women and children of the Americas and established and pledged themselves:

“To the continuance of those ideals that inspired San Martin, Bolivar, Hidalgo, and Washington in their firm belief in that profound principle, ‘FOR OTHER FOUNDATION CAN NO MAN LAY THAN THAT IS LAID, WHICH IS JESUS CHRIST.’ (I Cor. 3:11) . . . To provide mutual knowledge, understanding, and friendship among the peoples of the Western Hemisphere, and to foster all movements affecting the women and children of the Americas.”

Come in the Style of the Edwardians or Come as You Are. But Come!

Join us in vintage clothing from the Edwardian era (white tea dresses) or come as you, but come prepared to be blessed. Bring your daughters. And for the young ladies, please join hostess Virginia Hope Phillips at the young ladies’ table.

To attend the “Turn of the Century Ladies Tea”, you must be registered for the Reformation of Food the Family Conference. Register today!
